Radio1930 /40 RegentoneUpdated8/10/03 |
Regentone c.1935. c1935. Most radios we get I have seen over and over again, but in over 20 years of collecting and dealing I have never seen this one before. I thought at first it was a wooden cased version of the Defiant M900 (anyone know if they made one?), but although very similar and quite possibly also made by Plessey it is not. It has the two tuning scale idea briefly popular around 1934/5, and unusual knobs which look original, but is a superhet (the M900 was a TRF). The cabinet is fairly dull and scratched, one celluloid dial backing has shrivelled but it is all complete and looks very clean inside. Would restore quite easily and is undoubtedly unusual.
