Philco 'Empire Automatic' D521 1938. One of the hardest late 1930s sets to find, this unusual model features a mechanical auto-tune system which distinguishes it from the numerous other models using a similar chassis to the People's set range. This unusual black bakelite cabinet is especially fragile and many examples are cracked, or the front-printed scale splits or becomes illegible. This is a very good example, no cracks, overhauled and working. Although the knobs and back are not original, the set has a very good cabinet and is priced at £100 less than the last one we had.
