Champion Electric 'Venus' 1947. This very rare perspex globe radio is a desirable set due to it's unusual shape and rarity in any kind of complete condition. The perspex material is very brittle, and few examples have survived undamaged. This one is nearly perfect, but there are two very tiny hairline cracks- neither bigger than the diameter of a pencil, one on one of the clear perspex twisted brackets, and one of the slots in the top has a very slight mark at one end- it might not even be a crack. It is in a peach colour, with plated metal base, and looks all original inside. It does work, and even has a good line cord which looks original. This is a very rare set and exceptional in this condition. I am tempted to try it on eBay, it might well do better- but I decided to first let our regular customers have a look at it!

Having not had another one of these sets in 20 years of collecting and dealing, another one came into our posession a few weeks later. This is the green perspex model, and although looking very good the top section has been cracked in half at some time and repaired with a great deal of skill. It is also working, although converted for 110v operation.
