Zenith 'Transoceanic' 600 series c.1955. These sets were produced in various forms for a number of years, starting in the 1940s, and the name went on into the 70s. They were a very well designed short-wave and broadcast set by the well-known American company, and such was their popularity that they were favourite among seafarers as they provided world wide reception and could be powered from almost any mains voltage or batteries. They have bandspread short waves, covering the usual SW frequencies, and incorporate the Zenith Wave Magnet, a detatchable frame aerial that can be positioned away from the set, as well as an enormous telescopic rod aerial.

This is a very good clean example of the mid 50s era, with no major scuffing to the rexine case or cracks in the Perspex, and it has the original handbook and the fold-down world radio charts etc. in the lid. It works very well, overhauled, and fitted with a 240-110 v transformer inside instrad of the usual dropper arrangement.
